Heart-warming story about childhood, growing up and life’s hardships that can have a devastating impact on anyone, regardless of age. How to navigate past the reefs, who or what can keep young people away from fatal passions and self-destruction? The answer is simple - all of us, if we are not careless. The theatre whose arsenal contains the convincing veracity of different stories, is also helpful.
The performance begins and ends with a breakup: the father splits from the mother and, at the end of the performance, the son leaves his family. Children don’t always accept the world the adults have created for them, even if it seems ideal and harmonic. There are several important questions at the heart of the play. Why does a person forget so fast and easily how difficult it is to be a teenager undergoing major life changes? Why is the child treated differently than one wanted to be treated as a teenager? At what point do adults become like their parents? How to get along with your loved ones, how to be listened to? What do children expect from their parents at this difficult and deeply controversial stage in their lives? Non-understanding traumatizes both parties - child and parent. Alcohol and drugs are appealing to young people as seemingly the easiest way to overcome your sorrows but they only multiply the pain parents feel for their children. This performance is a strong call to become closer to each other. Only this promises salvation. Was I a good father? - the protagonist asks himself and realizes he neglected the important, his son growing up, because he thought too much about “how it is customary to raise children”. It is part of freedom that must be won back from itself in the name of love.
In the performance, an honest and important discussion is accompanied by youthful music which perfectly reflects the rebellious and uncompromising spirit of youth. This is a performance about children and their parents, to children and their parents.
The song 'Skittles' by 5MIINUST is heard in the performance.
